For Musicians

2021-2022 Rehearsal Schedule

We rehearse on Monday evenings at Government Center in Waltham (119 School Street) at 7:15 pm, except where otherwise noted.

JOIN THE ORCHESTRA: If you are interested in playing with the orchestra please contact David Salstein, Personnel Manager.

If you cannot attend a rehearsal, please e-mail David Salstein, Personnel Manager.

UPDATE: Due to the new surge of COVID-19, we are delaying the restart of our rehearsals by three weeks to Monday, February 7. (Thus, January 10, January 24, and January 31 are canceled. We are adding Friday, March 4, as a rehearsal date.) The first rehearsal on February 7 will be a strings-only rehearsal, and we will delay bringing back the winds by a week or two, depending on when COVID levels have decreased. Players are encouraged to wear high-quality masks (KN94 or KF94 ) for added protection against the Omicron variant that is circulating since it is much more infectious.

In addition, we are requiring everyone to have a booster if it has been over 6 months since your last Moderna or Pfizer COVID vaccine (2 months if you received J&J). The booster should be given at least 10 days before you attend any rehearsals. As before, please send in your vaccine record (consult the December 31 WPO email for where to send it). If you do not wish to send your record, please arrive early and show it at your first rehearsal.

Masking policy for wind players: You will need to be masked any time that you are not actively playing your instrument. We request that you play with a specialized mask to protect all members of the orchestra while you play. And please use the bell-covers even if it interferes with sound quality. While these interventions are inconvenient, our first priority is keeping everyone healthy while still allowing us to play together.

The surge of COVID-omicron unfortunately is very much with us, and we need to delay again the start of rehearsals. But projections are that, hopefully, the situation will improve in the next weeks.

We hope in the future to roll back some of these precautions once cases are much lower and it is safe to do so.
